Milky Way Mountain Maternity Portraits | Mountain Maternity Photographer | Lace & Locket Photo

WOW

This session was like dynamite. It was a breath of fresh air and the weather was lovely (for being done in Winter, anyways). This mama was an absolute stunner at her Mountain Maternity portrait session.

This sweet gal had seen a photo I had taken earlier in the year where I put a moon and the Milky Way into a Mountain maternity portrait for another client and she loved it, and asked if Iā€™d be willing to do something like that for hers. I absolutely did and I love how it matched the gown she is wearing in this shot.

All of the gowns that are featured in this mountain maternity portrait session in Banff are a part of my client closet and are available for use for clients.

This poor galā€™s session took place in June and we had to reschedule so many times. June tends to be rainy and the threat of storms is very real. Now, Iā€™m not worried about getting caught in the rain, that doesnā€™t bother me. Itā€™s not being able to see the mountains when that is what a client has picked. The pressure is so real.

Now, this session was around the third or fourth time we rescheduled and mama was creeping closer and closer to her due date, we were running out of time. So, on this night, I just decided to put my foot down and let go of the control and go through with this evening date we had picked. The weather still said it wasnā€™t going to be great but sometimes the weather lies, and I wanted to call itā€™s bluff.

Luckily we could see the mountains just fine, yay!
BUT THE WIND. It was severe. I can deal with wind though. I got some skills, got some tricks.

Jā€™s session was a bit nippy but she pushed through it for the photos. She knew the payoff would be there. She was absolutely stunning and S.Kay Makeup Artistry did a phenomenal job on her hair and makeup.

This was Jā€™s last babe so she wanted to make it COUNT, and that she did. She brought the fire, hard.

All the gowns in this gorgeous mountain maternity session are available in my client closet for you to wear during your own maternity session.

DID YOU KNOW?

You can choose as many gowns as you feel like changing in and out of for your session from my client closet?

I steam them and prepare the ones you are interested in and bring them with me out to Banff area.

I have a pop up change tent that I bring with me (unless itā€™s winter because that wont work well hah!) that you can change in, or you can change in your car.

This.Session. Was Epic.

I still am speechless on how stunningly these images turned out, and it makes me want to wish for Winter in Banff again so I can go back and always do more of this!

Winter Wonderland Banff Mountain Maternity

It was around -10 degrees celsius for this session which is pretty standard. The wind wasnā€™t too bad but I was worried that with the bit of clouds in the sky we wouldnā€™t be able to see the mountains. It snowed gently throughout the entire day but it really worked out for us.

All gowns in this session are in my client closet and available to use for your own booked session. In the winter, we layer with leggings and tank tops and simply tuck the straps.

Just out of frame of all these images, is either my assistant, clientā€™s partner (or both!) with blankets, warm bottles and things like that. This client actually brought the biggest, warmest fuzzy robe and it came in SO HANDY!

These dresses are actually the blue dress in my client collection and the client asked to have the colour changed and I love the tone she picked. It was so beautiful and flowy. You can see the snow in the background coming down and itā€™s so sweet.

This session was done just outside the Town of Banff in December, just before Christmas.

Summer Mountain Maternity Session | Lace & Locket Photo | Banff, Alberta, Canada | Calgary Mountain Maternity Photographer

Tealyn came to me with her first babe back in 2018 when we did her first maternity session at the gorgeous Saskatoon Farm just south of Calgary. I try to plan Spring garden greenhouse maternity specials each year if it works out and these were the first ones that I had done! It was hot, beautiful and so much fun! I had hired a makeup artist to work with that day and do these ladiesā€™ makeup and make them feel like queens! It was such a perfect day.

Right off the bat we did a set of photos with their sweet toddler because as we all know, they donā€™t like to hang out for long! She was shy at first but warmed right up!

Two years later we chose to do Tealynā€™s session in the mountains and I had a very specific vision for it. Tealyn got her hair & makeup done by the incredible Sarah with S.Kay Makeup Artistry. As if her first session wasnā€™t perfect enough we created some absolute magic that day as well. We did two locations close together because if youā€™re driving an hour out, I want to make sure that you are having an incredible experience AND a good variety in your maternity session.

Next we focused on Mama and made her feel like a Q U E E N . The contrast of her gorgeous red hair against a white gown and the gorgeous mountain backdrop was exactly what I had envisioned when I was thinking up her session. Tealyn gave both the makeup artist and myself full creative reign which is always so much fun!

Next we went just up the road for a little bit of a change in scenery. When choosing locations for maternity sessions I make sure of two things : Itā€™s easy terrain for a pregnant person and not far from where we park so that if a client needs to take a break, warm up, cool down, sit for a few minutes, EAT A SNACK, we are not far from all of those things; AND TWO there is another view or element close by to be able to give a good set of variety in the clientā€™s gallery. This is definitely one of those spots.

All gowns from this session are available for use in my Client Closet.

Morgan's Breezy Mountain Maternity Session | Calgary Maternity Photographer | Lace & Locket Photography

Morgan & Matt have got to be the most beautiful, funny, hilarious couple I've ever worked with. Actually all my clients are all of those things and that's why they're my clients. IT'S AMAZING. But we're talking about these fabulous folks.

This session was scheduled back when it was +30 outside and we planned for smack in the middle of October with the hopes it would surely still be decent outside. Last year it was! Last year at this time it was +20! Well....this year it was windy. So very windy and chilly. The wind bit. Which was perfect for dress flow but not so much for anything else like us, freezing in an open area unsheltered by trees.

Every time this happens, I always feel awful for my clients out there in these dresses, but they always say the same thing when they get their sneak peeks and their galleries - it was so worth it! And that fills my heart and keeps me going!

Morgan's makeup was done by the lovely Preet of Studio 150 makeup Artistry who has her own studio (but also travels!) located in Airdrie! All dresses in this gallery are owned by me & available free of charge to be used in your own booked maternity session!

Samantha's Winter Maternity Session | Calgary Maternity & Newborn Photographer | Mountain Maternity Session | Lace & Locket Photography

This session I had waited for since before Christmas. I was so excited and so pumped. I had planned out the locations ahead of time & figured out the poses I wanted to. This is why I always recommend booking your sessions with me as early as you can so that I have time to think about every aspect of creativity I can.

The forecast called for -26 the day we were supposed to shoot but THANKFULLY it was warmer than that. NOT BY MUCH, but it was bearable, except for while we were on the lake, unprotected by a town or trees. But the images we caught were so stunningly gorgeous, it was well worth it! I ALWAYS bring an assistant with me to mountain maternity sessions to hold blankets, boots, jackets and anything else the client will need to stay warm, comfortable and dry, even cool if it's in the summer months!

Sam got her hair & makeup done for this session by the lovely Artistry by Bobi
Her dress is from Pink Blush Maternity
