Hot August Mountain Maternity Portraits...actually |Mountain Maternity Photographer | Banff, Alberta | Lace & Locket Photo

This session took place at the very end of summer, during the Labour Day weekend. Before everyone went back to school and work after fun in the sun, we headed to Banff for a Mountain Maternity Session. It was so hot this day, and I mean, look at this mama. She’s hot too. Her hair and makeup was done by S.Kay Makeup artistry, my in-house makeup artist for Lace & Locket Photo!

All gowns featured in this session are available in my client closet, for booked clients.
All mountain maternity sessions include professional hair and makeup.

J’s session was a bit nippy but she pushed through it for the photos. She knew the payoff would be there. She was absolutely stunning and S.Kay Makeup Artistry did a phenomenal job on her hair and makeup.

This was J’s last babe so she wanted to make it COUNT, and that she did. She brought the fire, hard.

All the gowns in this gorgeous mountain maternity session are available in my client closet for you to wear during your own maternity session.

DID YOU KNOW?

You can choose as many gowns as you feel like changing in and out of for your session from my client closet?

I steam them and prepare the ones you are interested in and bring them with me out to Banff area.

I have a pop up change tent that I bring with me (unless it’s winter because that wont work well hah!) that you can change in, or you can change in your car.

Tealyn came to me with her first babe back in 2018 when we did her first maternity session at the gorgeous Saskatoon Farm just south of Calgary. I try to plan Spring garden greenhouse maternity specials each year if it works out and these were the first ones that I had done! It was hot, beautiful and so much fun! I had hired a makeup artist to work with that day and do these ladies’ makeup and make them feel like queens! It was such a perfect day.

Right off the bat we did a set of photos with their sweet toddler because as we all know, they don’t like to hang out for long! She was shy at first but warmed right up!

Two years later we chose to do Tealyn’s session in the mountains and I had a very specific vision for it. Tealyn got her hair & makeup done by the incredible Sarah with S.Kay Makeup Artistry. As if her first session wasn’t perfect enough we created some absolute magic that day as well. We did two locations close together because if you’re driving an hour out, I want to make sure that you are having an incredible experience AND a good variety in your maternity session.

Next we focused on Mama and made her feel like a Q U E E N . The contrast of her gorgeous red hair against a white gown and the gorgeous mountain backdrop was exactly what I had envisioned when I was thinking up her session. Tealyn gave both the makeup artist and myself full creative reign which is always so much fun!

Next we went just up the road for a little bit of a change in scenery. When choosing locations for maternity sessions I make sure of two things : It’s easy terrain for a pregnant person and not far from where we park so that if a client needs to take a break, warm up, cool down, sit for a few minutes, EAT A SNACK, we are not far from all of those things; AND TWO there is another view or element close by to be able to give a good set of variety in the client’s gallery. This is definitely one of those spots.

All gowns from this session are available for use in my Client Closet.

Morgan's Breezy Mountain Maternity Session | Calgary Maternity Photographer | Lace & Locket Photography

Morgan & Matt have got to be the most beautiful, funny, hilarious couple I've ever worked with. Actually all my clients are all of those things and that's why they're my clients. IT'S AMAZING. But we're talking about these fabulous folks.

This session was scheduled back when it was +30 outside and we planned for smack in the middle of October with the hopes it would surely still be decent outside. Last year it was! Last year at this time it was +20! Well....this year it was windy. So very windy and chilly. The wind bit. Which was perfect for dress flow but not so much for anything else like us, freezing in an open area unsheltered by trees.

Every time this happens, I always feel awful for my clients out there in these dresses, but they always say the same thing when they get their sneak peeks and their galleries - it was so worth it! And that fills my heart and keeps me going!

Morgan's makeup was done by the lovely Preet of Studio 150 makeup Artistry who has her own studio (but also travels!) located in Airdrie! All dresses in this gallery are owned by me & available free of charge to be used in your own booked maternity session!

Samantha's Winter Maternity Session | Calgary Maternity & Newborn Photographer | Mountain Maternity Session | Lace & Locket Photography

This session I had waited for since before Christmas. I was so excited and so pumped. I had planned out the locations ahead of time & figured out the poses I wanted to. This is why I always recommend booking your sessions with me as early as you can so that I have time to think about every aspect of creativity I can.

The forecast called for -26 the day we were supposed to shoot but THANKFULLY it was warmer than that. NOT BY MUCH, but it was bearable, except for while we were on the lake, unprotected by a town or trees. But the images we caught were so stunningly gorgeous, it was well worth it! I ALWAYS bring an assistant with me to mountain maternity sessions to hold blankets, boots, jackets and anything else the client will need to stay warm, comfortable and dry, even cool if it's in the summer months!

Sam got her hair & makeup done for this session by the lovely Artistry by Bobi
Her dress is from Pink Blush Maternity
