Spring Mountain Maternity Portraits | YYC Mountain Maternity Photographer | Lace and Locket Photo

This mountain maternity session took place in Banff during April. This is such a gorgeous time to photograph maternity sessions in the mountains because there is still snow on the mountain peaks, and the waters are starting to thaw. The colour of the lakes is stunning, fresh and it feels so good. I think I like it more than winter mountain maternity sessions, actually!

This gorgeous mama owns a business in Carstairs, Alberta. If you’re out there, check her out at the Carstairs Hair Co. She had her hair and makeup professionally done for this mountain maternity session and she looked absolutely glorious. It was a really fun session to photograph out in Banff that day.

All of the maternity gowns in this Banff Mountain Maternity session are available in my client closet for you to wear for your own Calgary maternity session. Hair and Makeup can be added, just say the word!

WOW

This session was like dynamite. It was a breath of fresh air and the weather was lovely (for being done in Winter, anyways). This mama was an absolute stunner at her Mountain Maternity portrait session.

This sweet gal had seen a photo I had taken earlier in the year where I put a moon and the Milky Way into a Mountain maternity portrait for another client and she loved it, and asked if I’d be willing to do something like that for hers. I absolutely did and I love how it matched the gown she is wearing in this shot.

All of the gowns that are featured in this mountain maternity portrait session in Banff are a part of my client closet and are available for use for clients.

Hot August Mountain Maternity Portraits...actually |Mountain Maternity Photographer | Banff, Alberta | Lace & Locket Photo

This session took place at the very end of summer, during the Labour Day weekend. Before everyone went back to school and work after fun in the sun, we headed to Banff for a Mountain Maternity Session. It was so hot this day, and I mean, look at this mama. She’s hot too. Her hair and makeup was done by S.Kay Makeup artistry, my in-house makeup artist for Lace & Locket Photo!

All gowns featured in this session are available in my client closet, for booked clients.
All mountain maternity sessions include professional hair and makeup.

This poor gal’s session took place in June and we had to reschedule so many times. June tends to be rainy and the threat of storms is very real. Now, I’m not worried about getting caught in the rain, that doesn’t bother me. It’s not being able to see the mountains when that is what a client has picked. The pressure is so real.

Now, this session was around the third or fourth time we rescheduled and mama was creeping closer and closer to her due date, we were running out of time. So, on this night, I just decided to put my foot down and let go of the control and go through with this evening date we had picked. The weather still said it wasn’t going to be great but sometimes the weather lies, and I wanted to call it’s bluff.

Luckily we could see the mountains just fine, yay!
BUT THE WIND. It was severe. I can deal with wind though. I got some skills, got some tricks.

This gorgeous human being decided that on her way to come meet me in Banff for her Mountain Maternity session, it would be a good time to take a tumble down a stair or three……..Right after S.Kay Makeup Artist left, after dolling up this beauty, she tripped and smacked her face. She showed up with a sore ankle, and a swollen eye!! Obviously I was more concerned about if she was ok, and had she not even told me her eye was swollen I don’t think I would have even noticed!

She didn’t even care that she was bumped and a little bruised, she just wanted to do her photos, and she ABSOLUTELY NAILED THEM. LOOK AT THIS STUNNER. She brought this gown with her, and the colour was stunning. Between the sky and the water, it couldn’t have been more perfect.

From our starting place, where we shot the blue dress, we went up the mountain to a field and did an outfit change. When E picked this dress, she wasn’t sure it would go with her skin tone but asked me to bring it anyways so she could at least look at it.

I’d say it’s her colour. In fact, it’s SO her colour that we chose to use it for some of her sweet baby’s newborn portraits, that I’ll show in a later post. Can’t wait!

We then went to the top of the mountain for some extra sexy maternity portraits, won’t be including those in this post, haha!

J’s session was a bit nippy but she pushed through it for the photos. She knew the payoff would be there. She was absolutely stunning and S.Kay Makeup Artistry did a phenomenal job on her hair and makeup.

This was J’s last babe so she wanted to make it COUNT, and that she did. She brought the fire, hard.

All the gowns in this gorgeous mountain maternity session are available in my client closet for you to wear during your own maternity session.

DID YOU KNOW?

You can choose as many gowns as you feel like changing in and out of for your session from my client closet?

I steam them and prepare the ones you are interested in and bring them with me out to Banff area.

I have a pop up change tent that I bring with me (unless it’s winter because that wont work well hah!) that you can change in, or you can change in your car.

This.Session. Was Epic.

I still am speechless on how stunningly these images turned out, and it makes me want to wish for Winter in Banff again so I can go back and always do more of this!

Winter Wonderland Banff Mountain Maternity

It was around -10 degrees celsius for this session which is pretty standard. The wind wasn’t too bad but I was worried that with the bit of clouds in the sky we wouldn’t be able to see the mountains. It snowed gently throughout the entire day but it really worked out for us.

All gowns in this session are in my client closet and available to use for your own booked session. In the winter, we layer with leggings and tank tops and simply tuck the straps.

Just out of frame of all these images, is either my assistant, client’s partner (or both!) with blankets, warm bottles and things like that. This client actually brought the biggest, warmest fuzzy robe and it came in SO HANDY!

These dresses are actually the blue dress in my client collection and the client asked to have the colour changed and I love the tone she picked. It was so beautiful and flowy. You can see the snow in the background coming down and it’s so sweet.

This session was done just outside the Town of Banff in December, just before Christmas.

Luba booked me in April for her mountain maternity session and she seemed so sweet that I felt like I could feel it through my phone screen when I read her messages, that was the first thing that stuck out me about her. She was so much fun to work with, and her husband Frank. It was BRUTALLY hot in Banff that weekend when we did her session and the mosquitoes were vicious but they made it so, so fun and we laughed the entire time. Luba knocked her whole session right out of the park and it is one of my favourite sessions from 2021.

Luba’s hair and makeup was done by S.Kay Makeup Artistry, you can check out her work here.
All gowns that Luba wore are in the Lace & Locket Photo Client Closet and are available to use in your booked session.

Mountain Maternity Photographer | First Day Of Spring Mountain Maternity | Lace & Locket Photo

This girl is a fire. She’s a force and it radiates through her into the world, through her, her kids. She’s a stunner. She is a beautiful mother, wife and she is one of the strongest women I’ve ever met. I was beyond honored to take her photos on the first day of Spring, march 2020. I know it doesn’t look like that, of course. But it was a stunning day. When Jess told me she wanted me to do her photos, we both had a vision in our minds that was so similar and it all came together beautifully. I had a gown custom made specifically for Jess’ sessions (you can find the talented maker here) and her hair and makeup was provided by the exceptional S.Kay Makeup Artistry.
