C's Mountain Maternity Portraits | Lace & Locket Photo | Banff, Alberta

This poor gal’s session took place in June and we had to reschedule so many times. June tends to be rainy and the threat of storms is very real. Now, I’m not worried about getting caught in the rain, that doesn’t bother me. It’s not being able to see the mountains when that is what a client has picked. The pressure is so real.

Now, this session was around the third or fourth time we rescheduled and mama was creeping closer and closer to her due date, we were running out of time. So, on this night, I just decided to put my foot down and let go of the control and go through with this evening date we had picked. The weather still said it wasn’t going to be great but sometimes the weather lies, and I wanted to call it’s bluff.

Luckily we could see the mountains just fine, yay!
BUT THE WIND. It was severe. I can deal with wind though. I got some skills, got some tricks.

Magical Milky Way Mountain Maternity | Lace & Locket Photo | Banff, Alberta

Ok, listen.
This session was literal magic. I don’t know what else to say.
Brianne had her makeup done by none other than S.Kay Makeup Artistry and she looked STUNNING.

It was a moderately cold day, of course and the snow just didn’t know what it wanted to. Homegirl came out to Banff and she brought the HEAT with her.

She picked stunning dresses from my Client Closet, and we kept her warm with Hubby standing just out of frame with a nice warm coat and a blanket. She wore maternity leggings underneath with a black spaghetti strap tank top.

The most magical part was at the end, when I wanted to add a touch of magic, milky way magic. The moon was shining so bright and clear that night but, of course, the moon is so small through the lens of my camera. I wanted to have the moon in her photos, even a couple, but it just wouldn’t work with a true moon. So I used an artificial one, a vector. It didn’t do the trick. I didn’t like it….till I found an overlay that was the Milky Way.

MAGICAL.
It was so stunning. I made a reel about this photo on my Lace & Locket Photo Instagram and you can watch that here.

All the gowns in this beautiful individual’s Banff Mountain Maternity Photo Session are available for booked clients in the Lace & Locket Photo Client Closet.

Hair and Makeup is provided by S.Kay Makeup Artistry for Mountain Maternity Portrait Sessions, and can be added on to Local YYC Maternity Sessions.

Winter Wonder Land Mountain Maternity | Banff Maternity Photographer | Lace & Locket Photo | Banff, Alberta

This.Session. Was Epic.

I still am speechless on how stunningly these images turned out, and it makes me want to wish for Winter in Banff again so I can go back and always do more of this!

Winter Wonderland Banff Mountain Maternity

It was around -10 degrees celsius for this session which is pretty standard. The wind wasn’t too bad but I was worried that with the bit of clouds in the sky we wouldn’t be able to see the mountains. It snowed gently throughout the entire day but it really worked out for us.

All gowns in this session are in my client closet and available to use for your own booked session. In the winter, we layer with leggings and tank tops and simply tuck the straps.

Just out of frame of all these images, is either my assistant, client’s partner (or both!) with blankets, warm bottles and things like that. This client actually brought the biggest, warmest fuzzy robe and it came in SO HANDY!

These dresses are actually the blue dress in my client collection and the client asked to have the colour changed and I love the tone she picked. It was so beautiful and flowy. You can see the snow in the background coming down and it’s so sweet.

This session was done just outside the Town of Banff in December, just before Christmas.

Lady S | Baby Girl Mountain Maternity Gender Reveal | Banff, Alberta | Lace & Locket Photo

THIS. GIRL. NAILED. HER. SESSION. I know I say that every time, but she’s a literal goddess.
S told me she had found me on Instagram a few years back but she wasn’t pregnant and so she followed me, and waited until the day she would be. And I am so happy she did. Her and her little family were such a delight to work with.

As with my other mountain maternity work, S had her makeup and hair done by Sarah with S.Kay Makeup Artistry in Calgary. We came to meet in Banff and it was actually quite cloudy, a little windy, but not too bad. This session took place in early June.

Before her session was to take place, S asked if we could do a gender reveal for her family. She hadn’t told any of her family what they were having and she had the most adorable idea, using coloured flower petals! Of course many of us have heard about some gender reveal ideas that have been scary, or down right dangerous and so I am very careful what I will or won’t do - I said we can absolutely do this but we would have to pick up all the petals after the fact (they were artificial) because I wanted to guarantee that whatever we did, we left no trace on Mother Earth. So after this next photo, we did a real quick 100 petal pick-up hahah!)

SUCH A CUTE IDEA!

Then we moved onto just S and spoiling her with gorgeous images, in this gorgeous custom made gown by a lovely lady who lives in Calgary. Supporting local in every way I can is my JAM. This boho gown was made just for my clients and I love it.

Sarah’s work on S’s hair and makeup makes me swoon to this day <3 That red lip though!

Yep, I for sure was IN the lake to get this shot. It was absolutely worth it. And this is why I bring spare pants to sessions. Can’t do this in winter!

Cannot wait to post this lovely human’s newborn photos of her sweet baby girl!
