Calgary Central Library Maternity Portraits | Calgary Maternity Photographer | Calgary, Alberta

When J first messaged me to do her Calgary Maternity Portraits in the Calgary Central Library, I wasn’t sure about it. If you’ve been watching my work for a while, you’d know it’s not my jam to do maternity portraits inside. Buuuuuut I love a challenge. So hey. Lettuce do it.

It was the beginning of Stampede and I wasn’t sure what that would look like. Also, driving downtown gives me the absolute heebie jeebies so I thought what better time to meet than FIRST THING IN THE MORNING at 9 am. I mean, the drive was fine, there were a lot of folks downtown already BUT…none of us participating in this session were exactly functional. hahah!

But this session was so fun! It was such a cool location, dad is into Calgary architecture and 9 am was a good time to start because it was quiet at first, not a lot of other people around right away. The light was beautiful and we got such a unique set of images from this location, there are so many different spots that can provide a completely different feel than the last.

Moral of the story, this location is a win.ALLLLL the sessions at the Calgary Central Library!

Drumheller Newborn Portraits | Baby K | Lace & Locket Photo

Can you believe this handsome kid’s parents found me and drove all the way from Drumheller to Airdrie for their newborn portraits?!?! I FEEL SO SPECIAL I COULD CRY.

This sweet, darling little squish was absolutely perfect for his session and the colours we chose melt my heart. He was perfect. I know I say that with every baby, but what can I say? They are. I hope to see these amazing people again one day in the future, it was a total pleasure creating these images for them to enjoy.

This sweetest of sweet girls came to the studio from Chestermere, Alberta. I am always honoured when clients travel to me from places other than Calgary or Airdrie. Her mama had a mountain maternity done back in June, you can find that stunning session here.

While this was absolutely such an exceptional session in my books, I think my favourite part was including Grandma from Mom’s side and Grandpa from Dad’s side in the photos. They are both so proud to be grandparents and involved in their grandbabies’ lives and that just really sits so full in my heart. My next favourite thing was mom bringing her veil from their wedding to use, I LOVE getting to be creative with things like that, especially when it means getting to use bold colours.

This is the sweet babe from my maternity session blogged a few sessions back! You can find those Mountain Maternity Photo images here. This darling girl’s session was SOOOO gorgeous, Mama brought this gorgeous floral muslin blanket for us to use and I am so smitten with how these images turned out. Mama wanted to use soft pinks & whites, florals and little Miss A knocked it out of the park. Even Big Brother was a blast to work with, he was so happy to be a part of the session!

This post showcases the flow of a regular newborn session - we start with family portraits, followed by sibling portraits and then the solo baby images come after that. This is so that we can get those out of the way, and you can relax and maybe even catch some Z’s while I work with babe. This is also because big siblings also have a shorter attention span and they get bored quick, so we try to keep it fun and engaging to do the sibling and family portraits before they decide they want to peace out!
