This is the sweet babe from my maternity session blogged a few sessions back! You can find those Mountain Maternity Photo images here. This darling girl’s session was SOOOO gorgeous, Mama brought this gorgeous floral muslin blanket for us to use and I am so smitten with how these images turned out. Mama wanted to use soft pinks & whites, florals and little Miss A knocked it out of the park. Even Big Brother was a blast to work with, he was so happy to be a part of the session!

This post showcases the flow of a regular newborn session - we start with family portraits, followed by sibling portraits and then the solo baby images come after that. This is so that we can get those out of the way, and you can relax and maybe even catch some Z’s while I work with babe. This is also because big siblings also have a shorter attention span and they get bored quick, so we try to keep it fun and engaging to do the sibling and family portraits before they decide they want to peace out!

This handsome baby boy was a last minute booking, he had already been born which isn’t uncommon, but generally folks will book around 18 weeks. It happens for many reasons, one of which I will discuss in this sweet story of baby D.

It’s not every day that I get a message from someone asking if they can bring me their needles and ask me to make art with it. I said yes, Ill sure try! You see, these folks- the sweetest, most in-love parents- had gone through a rough IVF journey before they got to baby D. They showed up for their session with a big ol’ reusable grocery bag of all the needles they had used during the journey to get pregnant. While I photographed baby, Mom & Dad told me about their journey, failed IVFs, miscarriages. My heart broke hearing their story because not only is it devastating for them but I know that they are also not the only ones to face this darkness. BUT, their story inspired me to create the above image. The needles show the ups and downs of an IVF journey, the downs resulting in losses, and finally ending in a rainbow of a baby, sweet Baby D. Mom told me that they never booked their session ahead of time because they had learned previously about getting “too excited” and booking things earlier than the absolute moment. It breaks my heart that this is what folks have to go through but I am so grateful this beautiful family shared their story with me and allowed me to create these images for them to enjoy, hopefully for generations to come!
